The swearing in of these four new firefighters will be followed by a promotional ceremony for Firefighter Terrance Dunn being promoted to the position of Fire Inspector.

First Selectman Gordon Joseloff will administer the Oath of Office together with

Fire Chief Christopher Ackley.

Members of the Press are most welcome.

A brief reception with refreshment will follow.

Saturday, August 29, 2009 from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m.,

Westport Firefighters will be joining the fight against neuromuscular disease and “filling the boot” for the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA).

Westport Firefighters will be collecting donations at the entrance road to Compo Beach from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Your donation is voluntary, but much needed, in the fight to eradicate this terrible disease. Westport Firefighters Local 1081 has been staunch supporter of MDA for many years. Our goal is to raise $2000.

All proceeds raised during this event will go towards MDA’s services, research programs and support groups, including MDA’s Summer Camp program for children affected by neuromuscular disease. We ask that you make a trip to Compo Beach on Saturday, August 29^th to become a participant in this great cause.
